Testing your system

The only way to ensure that your alarm system is working properly is to test it with the Chubb Security Systems Monitoring Centre. We recommend that you do this once a month.

Alarm System Test Procedures:

  • Advise the Chubb Monitoring Centre of your intent to test
    •  Call the Monitoring Centre and identify yourself by providing your name and password or pass-code
    •  Tell the Monitoring Centre that you are about to test your alarm system, and that you will call them back upon completion of the test

  • Test your alarm system
    •  Turn your alarm system on, just as you would if you are leaving your premises
    •  Wait for the delay time to expire (usually 30 seconds)
    •  Walk through the secured area and open secured doors and windows. If your system has a siren installed, it will sound when you trip the alarm devices
    •  Once you have tripped all the alarm devices, wait 45 seconds, and turn off your alarm system

  • Confirm the result
    •  Call the Chubb Monitoring Centre identifying yourself
    •  Ask the Monitoring Centre to verify a successful test of the alarm system by providing you with the alarm signals received
    •  If the proper signals were not received, ask the Operator to schedule a service visit

You should perform these tests on a regular basis to ensure that everything is in good working order. Chubb recommends that these tests be conducted on a monthly basis.

If you have any questions regarding system testing, please do not hesitate to contact the Monitoring Centre or your local Chubb location.
